Services Offered
Minimally Invasive Treatments for Voiding Dysfunction
Voiding dysfunction is a deviation from the normal voiding cycle, that includes symptoms such as urgency, frequency, dribbling of urine, and overt incontinence, as well as difficulty emptying the bladder. These problems can be treated with medications, surgery or minimally invasive procedures. New treatments we offer patients include:
Transurethral Microwave Therapy (TUMT)
Laser Ablation of the Prostate
Interstim Therapy
Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation
Urethral Sling Surgery and Artificial Urinary
Sphincter Placement for Male Urinary Incontinence
Urethral Sling Surgery for Female Urinary Incontinence
Vaginal prolapse surgery for cystocele and rectocele
Brachytherapy
Brachytherapy is a minimally invasive procedure where the doctor implants tiny permanent radioactive seeds (about the size of a grain of rice) into the prostate where they irradiate the cancer from inside the gland.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery, also referred to as minimally invasive surgery, describes the performance of surgical procedures with the assistance of a video camera and several thin instruments. During the surgical procedure, small incisions of up to half an inch are made in the abdomen and plastic tubes called ports are placed through these incisions. The camera and the instruments are then introduced through the ports which allow access to the inside of the patient. Currently we can remove kidneys or part of the kidney, lymph nodes in the abdomen or pelvis, adrenal gland tumors, repair varicoceles, diagnose undescended testicles, using this minimally invasive surgical approach.
Endourologic Surgery
Endourologic surgery is looking inside the urinary tract (urethra, bladder, ureter, inside the kidney) with a very thin scope to treat various problems of the urinary tract. We have expertise in all endourologic procedures including percutaneous kidney stone extraction, percutaneous repair of kidney blockage, ureteroscopic stone treatment, cystoscopic treatment of bladder tumors, bladder stones, removal of enlarged prostate, relief of urethral strictures.
Urologic Cancer Treatment
We have the expertise to treat all urologic cancers including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, testicular cancer. We offer nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy, robotic prostatectomy, brachytherapy, radical cystectomy, radical nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical orchiectomy, retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy.
Pediatric Urology
There are many pediatric urologic problems that we have the expertise to evaluate and treat, including ureteral reflux, with minimally invasive option of Deflux implant. We also treat hypospadias, undescended testicles, ureteropelvic junction obstruction.
Vasectomy Reversals
Vasectomy reversal is a surgical procedure restoring the flow of sperm through the vas deferens. This procedure requires an experienced microsurgeon using an operating microscope to achieve the best success rates. It can be done on an outpatient basis. Dr. Naftulin has over 17 years of experience doing these surgeries with excellent results. Even though the cost of these surgeries are not covered by insurances, the price through our group is reasonable for most people desiring to have children again.
Female Urology
Female urology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of those urinary tract disorders most prevalent in females. These include urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse, voiding dysfunction, recurrent urinary tract infection, urethral syndrome and interstitial cystitis. Expert evaluation of these conditions includes a complete history and physical exam. Urodynamics (bladder function test) and imaging studies may be required to fully evaluate the urinary tracts. Additional bladder studies such as cystoscopy may be necessary.
Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile Dysfunction, sometimes called "impotence," is the repeated inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. The word "impotence" may also be used to describe other problems that interfere with sexual intercourse and reproduction, such as lack of sexual desire and problems with ejaculation or orgasm. Using the term erectile dysfunction makes it clear that those other problems are not involved. Erectile dysfunction, or ED, can be a total inability to achieve erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain only brief erections. We offer drug therapy, such as phosphodiestrase inhibitors – Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis, androgen replacement, vacuum erection devices, intraurethral suppositories – MUSE, penile injection therapy, penile prosthesis surgery.
Kidney Stone Disease
Kidney Stones are one of the most painful of the urologic disorders. Kidney stones are one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract. We offer thorough diagnostic evaluation of the risk of kidney stone formation, stone prevention through dietary and medical therapy, as well as comprehensive surgical treatment options – including extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy, ureteroscopic stone extraction and laser lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotripsy, as well as open surgical stone removal.
